Appendix 5 RMServices on Windows 7 & 2008 Server
In the past, systems, the RMServices icon does not show up in the system tray, even when RMServices is running on some Windows 7 (and recent 2008 Server OS's). The WOPG17.0.2011.07250 build and later has addressed this issue with a new RMServices user interface (RMServicesCPL). It is recommended you install WOPG17.0.2011.07250 build and later to realize the full functionality of RMServices.
As a temporary solution, you can access the GUI to set up RMServices options with the following workaround. Note that this work-around requires shutting down RMServices temporarily
- Click on the Windows start button, click "Run", type "net stop rmsoapserver" in the command field. You will notice a DOS screen temporarily pop up will it is performing the command. Note this function can also be preformed using a DOS command.
- Again from the Run command type: X:\rmwin\handheld\rmservices /install. "X" represent the drive letter where the rmwin directory is located (i.e. c:\rmwin). Note there is a space in the command between rmservices.exe and the forward slash (/) before install.
- Ignore the error about already being installed - Do Not click OK.
- Right-click on the RMServices icon in task bar.
- Make your changes (described in section:Defining Handheld Type), and close the RMServices GUI.
- Click OK to the "failed to install" error dialog box.
- RMServices should no longer be running.
- Restart RMServices by using the Windows Run command and type "net start rmsoapserver" to bring the server back up.
