Introduction

This document gives general instructions for installing RESTAURANT MANAGER, Version 20 on a standard Windows based network. Please visit the section "Hardware Requirements" for the minimum software and hardware requirements needed to operate Restaurant Manager in various environments. It is assumed that all the system hardware is installed and that the network has been previously established and verified for proper operation. For most installations, ASI recommends you use the fileserver solely as a Fileserver and Print Server, and use another PC as a Manager Workstation.

Note: Windows 2000 , 2003 server, and XP are no longer supported by Microsoft and is deemed PCI non-compliant.

IMPORTANT: ASI provides this documentation as an aid to configuring the underlying operating system required to run Restaurant Manager. However our tech support is limited to issues related to Restaurant Manager program configuration and use. For issues relating to the Windows operating system, Network configuration please contact Microsoft tech support and/or a certified network engineer.

This document also cover a basic installation. Restaurant Manager feature programming and configuring third party interfaces is covered in the Restaurant Manager User Guide. Additional information guides can be found on the ASI Dealer Services website under RM University or the Tech Notes and Manual pages. In addition, the Restaurant Manager software come with a set of user guides that may be accessed by clicking on the Windows "Start" button > Programs > Restaurant Manager, Version 20 > User Guides.
