RMKiosk is a complimentary customer facing touch screen ordering application to the Restaurant Manager POS system, that allows restaurant customers to order and pay on a iPad terminal with no assistance required. As touch screens are becoming more commonplace, customers today are becoming more adept with touch technology and will prefer to order and pay quickly at a kiosk rather than waiting in line. Restaurants can benefit from this technology by reducing labor (less cashiers needed) while increasing customer service.
RMKiosk is primarily designed for the quick service and fast casual segments of the hospitality industry. Future applications may add functionality catering to other segments (i.e. wine lists).The current application allows for the customer to start an order, add items to an order, send an order, and add a payment using a credit card. Orders can not be recalled at the kiosk, therefore a customer cannot add or edit an order once it has been sent. Orders are created using the Tabs Module. The printing of guest checks and credit card receipts are done at the POS .
RMKiosk is an iOS application for iPad and Mini iPads on iOS version 5 or higher (iPad 1 will not support iOS 5). RMKiosk was designed to incorporate many of the user interface capabilities of the iOS such as the availability to scroll through the menu from left to right or up or down to easily navigate even large menus. Ease-of-use was considered in the design of the user interface with the expectation that even the most non-technical person would be able to successfully use RMKiosk to place orders.
A brief training/tutorial video (optional) is displayed at the start of each order to indicate how the gestures are used for navigation and completion of the order. Experienced users may skip the video and go directly into the order if they so choose.
