Introduction

The RM Alert and Messaging system supports asynchronous messages to be sent both within and outside the POS system. It can be configured to automatically send e-mail, Write-On alerts to a specific user, or Write-On alerts to a specific security level. The RM Alerts can be programmed with virtually unlimited number of schedules and recipients.

Restaurant Manager allows you to compute pre-configured alerts and create triggers to send the alert. The alert itself can be a simple text message warning of concerns such as number of deleted items, voided checks and overtime. You can also configure your system to deliver reports from RM Reports on an automatic basis.

There are four main components used to configure and run RM Alerts.

  1. The Store Information Setup Form in the RM BackOffice is where the basic e-mail account information is entered. The data entered in these fields need only to be entered once unless the e-mail accounts have changed.

  2. Alerts and Recipients are configured in the Message Definition Form. This form will determine not only the recipient but the message sent and the schedule time or trigger that will send the message.

  3. The RMAlertd (exe) is an executable application that processes the alerts. This application must be running at all times to process the alerts and messages.

  4. The RMMailer program requires no configuration. However, you will need to add RMMailer to RMStart. RMMailer is a program that centralizes all email functionality across several different Restaurant manager programs.

Additional set up may be required in the RM Reports Module if you intend to send preconfigured reports via e-mail.
